Nerang
Nerang has been a place of meeting for 100 years. The township had a postal office, school and … you guessed it – hotel – from its establishment in 1876.
Once a rail head for farmers and timber workers, Nerang is still a transport and administration hub with a major rail link and Council offices.
Gradually Nerang’s key role was usurped by Southport towards the beach. By the 1970s and 1980s, Nerang became a popular hinterland residential area.
Now, golf courses are within easy access. Stay at hotels, motels or use convention facilities.
Gold Coast Cycle Centre has a velodrome and off-road circuit. There’s skating and fishing at Burchill Park adjoining the Nerang River.
Nerang River is a popular location for fishing, boating and picnics. A great fishing platform is located at Arthur Earle Park. You may come away with bream, flathead, whiting and trevally.
