Numinbah Valley

Head from the township of Numinbah north through the Numinbah Valley for some seriously scenic adventures.

Named after the Aboriginal word "Nyummin" meaning hold tight country, the narrow valley was thought to hold the two mountains together.

This land space of 116sqm is a major water supply catchments area of the Gold Coast.

Explore Numinbah Forest Reserve with dry open Eucalypts, Waterfall Creek and orange flowering silky oaks or go horseriding or cycling (seek a national park permit).

Numinbah Valley played host to a school for aircrew in World War II. Airmen training for New Guinea combat were taught jungle survival skills in the rainforest near Egg Rock and The Pocket.

Around this area, look for Australian native plants such as Kangaroo Paw grown for export.

Located within a section of Springbrook National Park but in the Numinbah Valley, Natural Bridge is home to one of Australia’s largest glow worm colonies with a picturesque rock formation over Cave Creek.
